Alpena County has a lot to offer. Whether it’s the Jesse Besser Museum, Thunder Bay Marine National Sanctuary (NOAA) or all of the great restaurants to eat. The 10-Day Brown Trout Festival is a big hit for everyone in the surrounding areas. The City of Alpena also offers a charming downtown and sandy beaches to enjoy in the summer months. Within the county, you can also find the town of Posen and village of Ossineke.
Alcona County is situated just South of Alpena. The county is home to towns such as Harrisville, Lincoln, Hubbard Lake and Lost Lake Woods. Alcona is situated on roughly 36 Miles of Lake Huron Coastline, but is also known for it’s vast farmland and agricultural resources. Here, you can also find the AuSable River, Quilt Trail and the DNR Blue Ribbon Trout Stream.
Montmorency/Presque Isle Counties
Montmorency County sits just East of Alpena and is home to the towns of Atlanta (Elk Capital of Michigan), Hillman and Lewiston. The county is well known for its great hunting, fishing and camping areas, as well as agriculture. It offers over 11 great fishing and recreational lakes and is home to many summer residents.
Presque Isle County can be found North of Alpena and is home to Rogers City. There are many campgrounds, lighthouses, state parks and beautiful Ocqueoc Falls. A great place to be outdoors and adventure. Rogers City, which is located right off of US-23, is a great place to go to restaurants, check out the local shops and get a great view of beautiful Lake Huron.
